A strong showing by internet-based job advertising kept the nationwide job vacancy monitor afloat in October, the latest ANZ Job Vacancy survey shows.
ANZ's nationwide job vacancy rate - which measures the level of job advertising as a proportion of the level of employment - was flat between September and October at 3 per cent.
Newspaper job vacancy rates came under pressure in October, while internet advertising flourished. Newspaper advertising was unchanged at 1.7 per cent - from highs above 2 per cent in 2003 and 2004. Internet advertising was at 1.3 per cent. Three regions - Auckland, Hawkes Bay and Manawatu - recorded a drop in vacancy rates.
