The number of jobs advertised on the internet in Australia has increased for the eighth month in a row with strong growth in blue collar industries.
Jobs in the building, engineering and mining sectors have led the increase to about 240,000 advertisements in August on Australia's big three internet job sites.
But professional positions, with the exception of the IT industry, have not shown significant increases.
The Director of the Olivier Group, Bob Olivier, said the growth was remarkable, but starting to flatten.
He said there was room for growth in advertisements from the public sector.
"We may also see, in the not too distant, the Australian defence jobs, the extra 2500 jobs created there," he said.
"I would imagine ... a lot of the government attention would be put on the internet because that's where the job seeker is."
