The news site Ananova reports that a French bus driver was sacked after committing the heinous crime of stopping to rescue a frog on the road. She picked it up and moved it to the side of the road, then got back in her bus and went on.
One can only speculate about why you would sack someone for that, especially when they have 13 years' service. The whole incident must have taken all of about 30 seconds. Apparently one of the passengers complained, and the company said she should have squashed the frog.
Maybe it was a cultural misunderstanding - the French driver worked for a German bus company in Regensburg, Bavaria. While the French have a much-celebrated fascination with frogs, the stereotypical German is supposedly obsessed with efficiency and punctuality. Could that have been the reason the driver was told she should not have stopped to save a frog, if it meant delaying the bus by 30 seconds?
Meanwhile, in the US, Cnews reports that a couple of Domino's workers were fired and face criminal charges for some strange behaviour with pizza ingredients. This was after a video on YouTube showed one of them putting cheese in his nostril, and waving meat under his rear end while assembling a sandwich.
Nice.
