Genesis Energy's executive is being shaken up with three top roles "disestablished" and new ones created.
The company, now owned by the taxpayer but facing partial privatisation if National wins the next election, has told staff the changes will help it respond to change.
In a message to staff, chief executive Albert Brantley says the executive team will be strengthened and realigned to implement the strategies that will support the company's vision. The review would allow the company to "respond to exciting changes in the industry and to transform ourselves to a customer-led, engineering-driven culture".
New roles include a chief operating officer, chief financial officer and general manager for strategy and business development. The roles of general manager finance, general manager fuel development and general manager generation development will be disestablished.
Sources say the changes are logical given the changes in the sector but a long time in coming.
Brantley told staff he wanted a new executive team in place by August 1.
