The five work stoppages recorded in the June quarter involved 497 employees, 607 lost work days and an estimated $126,000 in wages and salaries.
For the year to June, 18 stoppages were recorded, involving 1551 workers, with the loss of 1783 employee work days and $300,000 in lost earnings, Statistics New Zealand (SNZ) said today.
The annual number was well down on a year earlier, with 30 stoppages having been recorded in the June 2008 year, involving 7200 employees, with the loss of 17,929 person-days of work and an estimated $3.9m loss in wages and salaries.
SNZ said the five work stoppages that ended in the June quarter were all strikes.
