KEY POINTS:
Tony Egan, the exiting boss of meat processing company Affco Holdings, will take up the role of chief executive at state-owned food safety and biosecurity firm AgriQuality on April 10.
Egan resigned from Affco this week but his notice period runs until April 3.
The new move was a chance to broaden his management skills, he said.
"I've spent 14 or so years managing meat companies and while I've had a very enjoyable career in the meat industry it is good to test your skills in other areas," Egan said.
