It’s never been more necessary - and difficult - to get a pay rise.

The cost of living is shooting up, making it hard for many people to pay their bills. But the economy is also fairly rough, and businesses aren’t going to hand out fat pay packets just because you ask nicely.

That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, though.

Often, you know you have the skills, work ethic and results to justify being paid well.

The problem is how you communicate that to the people in charge of the purse strings.
