Sacked business boss Alasdair Thompson has been replaced after a two month search from the Employers and Manufacturers Association.
Mr Thompson was dismissed as EMA chief executive in July, almost two weeks after he said monthly "sick problems" were a reason women earn less than men in New Zealand.
Arelease from the EMA board said Mr Thompson's dismissal was related to media interviews and "the resulting consequences".
Board president Graham Mountfort this morning announced former board director Kim Campbell had been appointed as the association's new chief executive.
The appointment had been made after a "thorough international search", he said.
"Mr Campbell is extremely well qualified to lead EMA. It's a coup for us and New Zealand business to have someone of his international experience head up our organization."
Mr Campbell said he would work on improving business prospects for young people and advocating for sustainable business opportunities.
"My focus will be to assist New Zealand reaching its potential over the longer term. I believe business can deliver a great outlook for all New Zealanders."
Mr Campbell was recently executive chairman of Pharma Industries Incorporated, a pharmaceuticals manufacturing group employing over 1,700 staff in the Philippines and Thailand.
He has served on numerous private and public boards over his 35 year career, and remains an Honorary Life member of the Philippines New Zealand Business Association.
