ACC's chief executive is quitting when her contract ends later this year.
Dr Jan White, who has headed ACC for five years, has decided to "explore other opportunities when her contract ends", chairman of the ACC board John Judge said.
"Jan has led the organisation during an extremely challenging period as ACC has moved from a critical financial condition, to one where its financial footing looks more assured, Judge said.
"The board is pleased with the changes in direction and culture that have been made at ACC, and appreciates the immense contribution that Jan has made to this," he said.
Dr White joined ACC at the end of October 2005 and was previously chief executive of the Waikato District Health Board.
ACC would begin looking for a replacement chief executive immediately, Judge said.
