Chasing never-ending business growth is like a form of cancer, says Dick Smith.
The Australian icon, who founded Dick Smith Electronics, Australian Geographic and Dick Smith Foods, has just spoken to kiwi business leaders at an event in Queenstown called Tomorrow's Business.
At the present time, our economies would collapsewithout perpetual growth, Smith told nzherald.co.nz in August, ahead of the forum.
"Both economists and cancer cells believe in perpetual growth. And cancer cells quite often kill the host.
"Anyone with any common sense knows that perpetual growth in a finite world is not possible."
