KEY POINTS:
China's nominal gross domestic product grew 12.6 per cent in 2006, tax chief Xie Xuren said yesterday.
Xie reaffirmed initial estimates given by top economic planner Ma Kai that real GDP last year grew 10.5 per cent. The China Statistical Yearbook put 2005 nominal GDP growth at 14.5 per cent.
In nominal terms, the primary, secondary and tertiary industries grew by 7.1 per cent, 14.9 per cent and 11.4 per cent respectively in 2006, Xie said. Fixed-asset investment grew about 25 per cent.
A senior official from the National Development and Reform Commission put the figure at 24 per cent.
The National Bureau of Statistics is due to announce 2006 GDP, investment and other data today.
