Australia has achieved its second best monthly trade performance in almost four years.
Figures released for June show the deficit on trade in goods and services has been reduced to about US$553 million ($870,109,000), down from $1.7 billion in May.
The nation's imports bill is one per cent smaller, but there has been an eight-per cent surge in export earnings.
Receipts from metal ores and minerals are up more than $438 million in the month.
