Food prices were largely unchanged last month.
Statistics New Zealand's food price index rose just 0.1 percent in February.
Poultry prices took flight, rising more than seven percent. Restaurant meals and ready to eat food prices went up 0.4 percent and grocery food was up 0.2 per cent, while non-alcoholic beverages rose 0.4 percent.
Apples prices fell nearly 27 percent, with the price of all fruit and vegetables falling 2.6 percent.
For the year to February 2007, food prices rose 4.5 percent. Prices were up for all subgroups, with fruit and vegetables seeing the biggest rise of 18.5 percent.
