Economist Rozanna Wozniak will head an online mortgage broking service starting this week.
Wozniak was senior economist at ASB Bank for seven years until she was made redundant because of the financial sector's contraction after the September 11 terror attacks.
Since then, she has taught economics at AUT and continued working for a masters degree in property.
She joined broking company Property Pack last week, and will help run www.mortgage.co.nz when it goes live on Wednesday night.
The service, touted as unique to New Zealand, calculates a customer's best deal online.
After a customer enters his or her financial details, the internet site searches lenders' offers to produce a "best rate" for the internet surfer.
Wozniak said other websites were similar to online brochures, as a broker was still required to do the research.
Wozniak, whose masters degree thesis is on forecasting Auckland house prices, said the job suited her passion for the residential market.
