Australian drug manufacturer and distributor Sigma Pharmaceuticals offered to buy rival Australian Pharmaceutical Industries for A$566 million ($643.5 million), a discount to API's market value.
Sigma said no terms had been finalised, but it had proposed to make a cash offer of A$2.20 a share or the equivalent in shares, compared with API's last traded price at A$2.36.
