NEW YORK - Stock prices of companies that produce dynamic random access memory chips, or DRAMS, could be poised to jump, according to the latest edition of financial weekly Barron's.
The paper said companies that make DRAMS, which record data a user's computer processor is working on, are seeing better demand for their chips and could see further interest as Microsoft brings out its "memory-hungry" Vista operating system.
Among the leading DRAM suppliers, according to the report, are Samsung Semiconductor, a unit of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Infineon unit Qimonda, Hynix Semiconductor Inc. and Micron Technology Inc.
