KEY POINTS:
Travel guide publisher Lonely Planet has a new CEO.
Matthew Goldberg joins Lonely Planet from Dow Jones, where he was Senior Vice President, Digital Strategy and Operations.
In that role, he led business operations at the Wall Street Journal Digital Network, which includes WSJ.com, MarketWatch and other associated mobile, video and international websites.
"I look forward to the opportunity to work with a talented team to continue the company's leadership in print travel guides while growing the business by reaching new audiences across all relevant platforms and channels", said Goldberg.
Goldberg will be based at Lonely Planet's head office in Melbourne, Australia.
Lonely Planet founder and original CEO, Tony Wheeler, stepped down from the position when a 75 per cent stake in the company was purchased by the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation, in 2007.
