KEY POINTS:
Sovereign House, the new office block at Takapuna's Smales Farm, has won the Designers Institute's BeST Awards as the most outstanding new building.
The judges said its complex structure of transparent walled offices and glass-sided air bridges provided intelligent yet community-based working space.
They gave the building a Stringer interior award and a gold award in the office and workplace environment sections.
Jasmax of Auckland and Sydney's Bligh Voller Nield designed Sovereign House.
Kiwi Property Management's offices in the National Bank Building on Queen St and the interior of the Department of Labour Workforce offices at 280 Queen St won other awards.
Tim Hooson of Jasmax designed the fit-out for Kiwi and Eqo Leung of Opus Architecture did the Labour Department's fit-out.
The awards were presented last Friday.
