The son of a multi-millionaire wine-making family accused of punching a police woman in Dunedin is to stand trial.
Nikolas James Posa Delegat, 19, pleaded guilty earlier this year to resisting arrest but denied assaulting the officer during an altercation outside popular student haunt Starters Bar on March 26.
Delegat, whose rich lister family owns the wine-making empire Delegat Group, was a university student at the time of the incident.
His case was called in the Dunedin District Court today - although Delegat was excused from appearing - and Judge Michael Crosbie set his trial for May 23 next year.
Delegat was involved in a long-running battle for suppression. However, the Court of Appeal dismissed that bid last month.
