Most cruise ships will omit Lyttelton from their itineraries during the 2011/12 season because of earthquake damage at the port. Vessels will instead stop at Akaroa, on Banks Peninsula, Lyttelton Port Company said.
Lyttelton will still cater to small cruise vessels that can berth in inner harbour.
