Crime fighting software-maker Wynyard Group has made further inroads in Thailand, with the country's customs service selecting the NZX-listed company's products to help stop drug trafficking.
Wynyard, which develops software to help fight crime and corruption, announced this morning that Thailand would use the company's tools to help protect thecountry's borders.
The software was gifted to Thailand by Australia's customs service, but a Wynyard spokesperson said the deal was still new business for the company and would earn it revenue.
Wynyard's shares were up 8.57 per cent this morning to $l.14 on the back of the news. Wynyard Group managing director Craig Richardson said technology was becoming more important in the fight against drug trafficking in that part of the world.
"Wynyard's technology helps a number of agencies fight crime in South East Asia and we are delighted the Thai Customs Department has chosen Wynyard to help it combat drug trafficking in the region.
"The Government's comprehensive anti-drug strategy embraces the use of technology and increased coordination across agencies and with neighbouring countries, which we strongly support.
Other Wynyard software is already used by Thai authorities and 19 agencies in the South East Asia region across nine countries use it. The deals in Thailand comes of the back of a number of other wins in the Middle East which the company has signed in recent months.
