An Auckland property developer faced five charges relating to perjury, concealing property and contributing to his insolvency by extravagant living when he appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday.
Graeme Brent Raymond, aged 37, was described as a consultant of Mt Eden at the depositions hearing.
For the Crown, Jonathan Krebs told the court that Raymond was declared bankrupt for the third time in August 1998. The alleged offences of concealing property and contributing to insolvency by gambling, unjustified spending and extravagant living happened before his latest bankruptcy.
The perjury and false statements charges related to the period after adjudication of the bankruptcy.
"There are a number of witnesses who give corroborating evidence of the perjury and extravagance-of-living charges," Mr Krebs said.
Raymond was represented by Mr George Bogiatto, who conceded there was a prima facie case to answer. He said a not guilty plea would be entered to all the charges.
