Accounting software firm Xero has restated its commitment to its US expansion, with the business announcing a combined payroll and accounting software platform in the US today, and rollout expected in other countries over this year.
Chief executive Rod Drury said the new platform was the next evolution of the technology, with uptake of combined payroll and accounting platforms expected to grow rapidly.
"Payroll is usually the biggest expense for small business owners with time-consuming process," Drury said. "So integrated accounting and payroll is compelling and inevitable. Over 40 per cent of our customers already use our payroll software in markets where it is available."
Customers in California, Florida and Texas now have access to full payroll functionality, with integrated payroll for the UK and New Zealand expected to be available in the next three months. Drury said the company was gearing up for a big year with plans for further expansion and continued growth in the US.
"Xero's global platform and approach allow us to develop and learn from other countries and we're excited to launch these innovations in the vast US market," Drury said.
