KEY POINTS:
Nigel Morrison has been named the new chief executive of listed casino operator Sky City Entertainment.
Mr Morrison, due to start March 17, has over 18 years experience in gaming sector. He is currently chief financial of Galaxy Entertainment in Macau, Hong Kong. He has also held positions at Australian private casino giant Federal Group and Melbourne's Crown casino.
Mr Morrison replaces Evan Davies who stepped down suddenly in June after an 11-year tenure in the top job. Elmar Toime has been the acting chief executive since.
"Nigel has the international and regional gaming industry experience we are seeking to take the Sky City business forward," chairman Rod McGeoch said.
Sky City shares this year touched the lowest since May 2005 amid uncertainty about the casino operator's future. Earlier this month, a party that had shown an interest in buying the Auckland-based company said it was not ready to make a formal bid.
Mr Morrison said his primary goal was to "restore" shareholder confidence.
"I am committed to building long term shareholder value, not only through organic growth, but at the right time, through capitalising on other gaming opportunities in the region."
Sky City shares were down 2 cents to $4.59 at 10.40 am local time
