Auckland's Stamford Plaza hotel is yet to double in size, but refurbishment of its lower levels is finished and the hotel will be officially opened today. Guests are already staying at the hotel.
The $200 million expansion of the Albert St property has only begun and 10 floors are yet to be added, but work on the hotel part is finished after four months' work by Fletcher Construction.
Rooms have been redesigned and a new lobby, restaurants and bars fitted.
Stamford is now focusing on apartments above the hotel, and is marketing a 700sq m penthouse for $9.3 million. The apartments are due to be finished by April 2008.
