The tourism industry is looking forward to booming business with the sliding dollar.
The kiwi is now buying just over 60 US cents.
Tourism New Zealand chief executive George Hickton says the exchange rate means tourists will have more money to spend, will probably stay in better accommodation and can afford to stay longer.
He says the tourism sector has been through a difficult period with the strong dollar, so its fall will bring a gradual improvement for the better.
