Tourism Holdings today announced the appointment of Trevor Hall as its new chief executive.
Mr Hall will take up the role in June. He will replace Dennis Pickup, who announced his retirement last year, after seven years in the job.
Mr Hall currently heads the New Zealand Lotteries Commission, and has held a number of senior tourism management and marketing positions in New Zealand and internationally.
Tourism Holdings chairman Keith Smith said under Mr Pickup's leadership the company had strengthened under challenging conditions for the tourism industry.
During his tenure Mr Pickup steered the company through the fallout of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the collapse of Ansett, the Government bailout of Air New Zealand, the Sars outbreak and the Iraq war.
Mr Smith said Mr Hall's job would be to further develop the company on the solid base that had been established.
"Trevor Hall has a very strong blend of skills and experience that encompasses leadership in the private and public sectors, in New Zealand and internationally, and across a broad range of general management and marketing issues," Mr Smith said.
Shares in Tourism Holdings last traded yesterday at $1.54, having ranged between $1.45 and $2.18 over the past year.
