Alan Ameye hopes to rent his home out for four times the normal rate during the Rugby World Cup.
The youth worker often rents out his four-bedroom Murrays Bay home during the summer, but for next year's World Cup he plans to crank the rate up to $4000-a-week with a minimum two-week stay.
"It works out at $150 a night for six people," he says. "The rate is comparable with hotels, so it depends what you are after.
"We haven't had anyone register interest yet because they haven't got their tickets and they haven't finalised their schedule."
The house is a four-minute walk from the beach, has two bathrooms and a spa pool.
Ameye believes not everyone coming to the Cup wants to stay next door to a stadium.
"I think people are coming here for an experience and a holiday. They might be here for three weeks and only spend a few hours attending matches."
Ameye says he will be picky when it comes to letting strangers into his home, and recommends others considering renting their home to carry out a vetting process.
"If it's six single guys who want to rent the home we are probably going to say no, but if it's a family or a few couples then probably yes."
