The number of nights people stayed in short-term commercial accommodation was up 4 per cent in September on the same month last year.
Government Statistician Geoff Bascand said four of the five accommodation types experienced increased guest nights in September 2007 compared with a year earlier.
The total number of guest nights had been increasing since January 2006, although the increase had slowed in recent months.
