A special place in history for the Ibis Hotel in Christchurch.
The 155 room, eight storey hotel will reopen on September 4, becoming the first hotel in the CBD to do so since the February 2011 earthquake.
Hotel Manager Tim Dearsley says it's been a mammoth task.
"We've been working on it with Hawkins Construction and our project managers TBIG for pretty much over a year now and they've had up to 165 people working in the hotel everyday."
Mr Dearsley says the first guests are already booked.
