Auckland escapes fall in guest nights

The number of guest nights spent in short-term commercial accommodation fell 2.4 per cent in December from a year earlier.

The hardest-hit region was Bay of Plenty, with a fall of 27,000 or 7.8 per cent.

Auckland gained 25,000 or 5 per cent.
