The wireless side of Counties Powers broadband network, Wired Country, began commercial operations in the Franklin region last week, extending the coverage of the fibre network that was completed in May.
The wireless component expands coverage to 10,000 business and residential customers in the Greater Pukekohe and Papakura areas via wireless transmitters sited on Pukekohe Hill and at Kaipara Rd in Papakura.
Plans to extend coverage to include Greater Bombay and Waiuku in October will result in more than 20,000 residents and businesses falling within the coverage area.
Wired Country is also testing the provision of telephone services over the wireless and fibre networks with WorldxChange and ihug.
