Vodafone launches live streaming

Vodafone has begun "live streaming", which will give 3G phone users the ability to view events as they happen.

The service will be launched with a free live concert by New Zealand band Evermore from Auckland tonight.

Tim Nichols, head of Vodafone live!, said mobile streaming would change the rules about broadcast media and people's viewing choices.

"With live streaming to your mobile there is no reason not to see your favourite event."

Vodafone's first live streaming sports event will be the Burton NZ Open snowboarding competition from August 3 to 5.
