KEY POINTS:
Telecom has announced two appointments which it says will help accelerate the momentum of its operational separation programme, and deliver high quality network services.
Chief operating officer technology and enterprises Mark Ratcliffe had been appointed ceo-designate of Telecom's network business Access Network Services (ANS), Telecom said today.
ANS would go live on March 31, the date by which the operational separation of Telecom becomes legally enforceable.
The unit was charged with delivering equivalent network access for access seekers and Telecom's retail unit, and with building key elements of a next generation access network serving the whole industry.
The second appointment was Telecom Wholesale general manager Matt Crockett to chief executive of Wholesale and a new member of the executive team, reporting directly to Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds.
Mr Ratcliffe had been at Telecom for 19 years and had led its negotiations on operational separation, Dr Reynolds said.
The appointments were announced on the day Telecom provided plans to the Commerce Commission and the industry outlining its timetable for installing fibre to thousands of new roadside network nodes, and associated work, over the next three years.
The programme would shorten the copper connections across the network and deliver faster broadband, Telecom said.
