A mystery Vodafone fault has meant millions of customers could not send or receive text messages this afternoon.
Vodafone says technicians took just under an hour to fix the nationwide fault after it was detected about 5.10pm.
Spokeswoman Leigh Owens said the problem could have affected every one of Vodafone's 2.024 million mobile customers.
"We have not identified the root cause but it will be investigated further."
She said all the unsent messages over that period would be resent, although the backlog meant some customers were still unable to send or receive messages at 7.30pm.
Vodafone apologised to customers for the inconvenience.
