KEY POINTS:
Telecom is bringing in two new executives from overseas for roles it describes as being at the heart of its transformation process.
Frank Mount, whose last job was at Cable & Wireless, is being brought in to take up the new position of group chief transformation officer.
That job was to have been done by longtime Telecom executive Simon Moutter before the announcement earlier this month that he was off to head Auckland Airport.
In the second appointment announced today, New Zealander Alan Gourdie returns to this country to take up the position of chief executive officer retail at Telecom.
Gourdie will be coming from London where he was posted earlier this year as managing director of Asia Pacific Breweries British and European operations.
Earlier he had worked in Amsterdam as global marketing manager Heineken.
Mount started his career with AT&T, where he spent 20 years working in various roles.
He has held senior positions with several telcos, most recently working at Cable & Wireless from November 2004 to December 2007 as director group operations, group chief technology officer, and CTO Cable & Wireless International.
Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds said the two new appointments would be responsible for delivering a new generation of world-class services to customers in new and innovative ways, energising staff and maintaining a clear focus on putting customers first.
Mount had an impressive track record in leadership roles at some of the world's leading telecommunications companies across Europe, Britain and the US.
"Frank has exceptional experience in driving transformational change, and an exhaustive knowledge of the full spectrum of telecommunications and IP technologies," Reynolds said.
Mount said Telecom was reinventing itself and was clearly committed to delivering its next generation network and the enhancements it brought for an improved customer experience.
