New Zealand internet company Slingshot has entered into a partnership with Mega, internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom's online storage service.
Slingshot chief executive Mark Callander announced the "alliance" this morning, which will see his company's broadband customers receive a free Mega account for a year.
The account comes with 500 gigabytes of storage space.
Mega, launched by Dotcom earlier this year, is a cloud-based service that allows people to store files online. It is an encrypted service and customers rather than the company controls who can access what is stored there.
It stirred controversy last week when it was found that Eleanor Catton's Man Booker Prize-winning novel The Luminaries could be downloaded free.
