Internet service provider Slingshot has admitted misleading consumers in a television ad campaign.
The ads offered unlimited dial-up internet from $9.95, but contained an unreadable clause that said consumers had to sign up for the Anytime10 Plan at an additional $10 a month to get the deal. The ad aired between October and February.
The Commerce Commission warned Slingshot in February to modify the ad and the graphics were made larger. Slingshot then admitted that the modified ad might still have breached the Fair Trading Act.
The advertisement has now been modified again, with highly visible graphics and a voiceover spelling out conditions.
