KEY POINTS:
Telecom has appointed a British Telecom executive to lead its communications and regulatory team two weeks after the appointment of BT Wholesale head Paul Reynolds as chief executive.
Former director of external affairs for Next Generation Network, Shelley Grey, joined Telecom last week as general manager of public affairs.
While at BT, Grey was responsible for regulatory negotiation and industry consultation on the design and roll-out of the company's new network.
She was also seconded to the British Cabinet Office to lead a team focused on reducing regulation across the business sector.
"Coming to New Zealand is a great opportunity for me to apply my telecommunications experience in an entirely new setting," said Grey.
Telecom group general counsel Mark Verbiest said Grey brought firsthand experience of the challenges facing a large telco in a changing environment. Grey will be based in Auckland.
