Telecom may have to drop the price for rivals to use its high-speed internet service after the Commerce Commission said the carrier had changed the terms of its plans.
The price Telecom charges rivals for access to its bitstream service may fall to $27.44 a month per connection, excluding consumption tax, from $28.04, the commission said in a draft decision yesterday.
Since the commission set the initial price in June, Telecom has changed its internet plans for retail customers.
Vodafone's ihug unit and CallPlus Communications said the price was now too high.
The commission asked for submissions on the draft decision by March 7.
Telecom's share price dropped 3c to $4.91 yesterday.
