KEY POINTS:
Troubled text messaging company Plus SMS, which last month renamed its Guernsey-based operating company CRE8, said today it had appointed three new directors to strengthen its board.
Kenneth Millar, Clive Thomas and Murray Allott have been appointed non-executive directors of the holding company's board.
Last month, turnaround specialist Hans Hawinkels was appointed a non executive director and chief executive Christopher Tiensch appointed executive chairman.
Jock Irvine is stepping down from the board immediately.
Mr Millar was described in SMS's statement as a leading New Zealand entrepreneur, who 17 years ago established an import, marketing and distribution business, specialising in cosmetics, perfumes and toiletries. He recently sold his business to a private equity firm.
Mr Thomas is the owner and CEO of Australian freight forwarding company CT Freight Pty Ltd.
Mr Allott is a Christchurch chartered accountant.
The company said last month it needed to raise $8 million or it would exhaust its cash reserves by next month. In an analyst presentation it said it had a $2 million commitment from senior executives, and believed $8m would be enough until the company became self-funding.
SMS shares last traded at 17 cents, having traded between 7c and 78c in the last year.
