KEY POINTS:
The Commerce Commission has worked out Telecom's telecommunication service obligations, formerly known as the Kiwi Share, at $63.8 million for the year to the end of June 2004. Seventy per cent of the cost would be borne by Telecom and the remainder by other operators, primarily Vodafone and TelstraClear, the commission said yesterday.
The 2003-04 cost was broadly in line with previous years - $66 million in 2001-02 on an annualised basis, and $57 million in 2002-03.
The obligation relates to the local residential telephone service provided by Telecom.
