KEY POINTS:
Telecom has appointed its new chief financial officer (CFO).
He is Russ Houlden, who was previously finance director for an international legal firm, following a career with telecommunications giant BT.
He is taking over the job previously done by the highly regarded Marko Bogoievski, who has joined infrastructure investor Infratil.
Mr Houlden was finance director from 2002 to 2008 at Lovells, which had more than 3000 people operating from 26 offices in Europe, Asia and the United States, Telecom said today.
Previously he worked for telecommunications company BT, as finance director of BT Wholesale - a group with 30,000 staff and capital expenditure of around £2 billion ($5.1 billion) annually, and for ICI in Europe and Japan.
Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds is a former head of BT Wholesale.
Mr Reynolds said Mr Houlden had played key roles at the heart of successful transformations in the telecommunications, chemicals and commercial law industries and had broad international experience.
Mr Houlden said Telecom faced many opportunities and challenges as a result of volume growth, communications convergence, competition and operational separation.
He will be based in Auckland and lead finance teams across this country and Australia.
