Following outrage from text messagers when Telecom capped its $10 a month plan at 500 texts, the company has responded with a new plan aimed at what it calls genuine high volume texters.
The new plan, Boost Monsta TXT, will cost $10 a month and allow 1000 messages at no cost and additional messages to Telecom phones at 2 cents each -- additional messages to other phones will still cost 20 cents each.
The current Telecom $10 plan capped at 500 messages remains unchanged but customers can transfer across at no charge.
When Telecom announced the end to its unlimited texting plan earlier this month, texters, some of whom said they sent up to 5000 texts a month, were unhappy, saying they had bought Telecom phones specifically for the plan.
