Telecom rivals ihug and CallPlus have filed an appeal against a ruling by the Commerce Commission over the price the companies must pay to access Telecom's fastest internet services.
The Commerce Commission ruled a month ago that the companies must pay Telecom $28.04 a month for wholesale internet connections for high-speed "unconstrained bitstream".
The small players wanted the price lowered to about $20 a month, The Dominion Post reported today.
Last week the two companies filed an appeal in the High Court claiming the commission's price calculation was wrong.
The appeal could take months and could delay the two companies providing the fastest connections, but CallPlus chief executive Martin Wylie said that had to be weighed up against a price they considered too high.
