Spark Telecommunications company Spark under the strong leadership of Simon Moutter has this year reclaimed the top spot as the most valuable company on the NZX.
The nearly 40 per cent surge in Spark's share price this year - giving the company a market capitalisation of $5.8 billion - has been attributed to Moutter's leadership of the rebranding from Telecom to Spark, and in a competitive telco sector.
The company reported full-year profit from ordinary activities, excluding discontinued operations, for the 12 months to June 30 up 19.8 per cent to $321 million, success which also saw them make the finalists list for the Deloitte Top 200 most improved award. During the judging process, Moutter's vision for the company was commended by the judges.
"Spark has to drive value growth and cut cost faster than traditional revenue is falling," the judges commented. "But Moutter is making progress. This is one company to keep an eye on."
