New Zealand businessman Allan Freeth has been appointed chief executive of TelstraClear, the New Zealand arm of Australian telecommunications giant Telstra.
The former boss of rural services firm Wrightson will succeed Rosemary Howard in the TelstraClear top job.
Dr Freeth would also become chairman of Sytec, an information communication technology firm that employs some 140 staff in New Zealand, Australia and England.
Dr Freeth has been a member of the TelstraClear advisory committee for the past year. He would transition into the chief executive's job and formally start on April 16.
TelstraClear Chairman David Thodey said Dr Freeth had a good record in leadership and customer service.
"During his time at Wrightson he led a significant financial turnaround, increased shareholder value, improved the organisational morale and took a prominent leadership position in the wider agriculture industry," Mr Thodey said in a statement.
"Allan is the right person to drive innovation, investment and productivity, benefiting our business and residential customers and the NZ and trans-Tasman economies."
Mr Thodey said TelstraClear had and would continue to be a "very good growth engine" for its parent Telstra.
