Was it biting sarcasm or a simple typo? Third mobile network contender Econet issued a media release last week which named the Government agency charged with regulating the telecommunications spectrum as the "Ministry of Econet Development" (rather than the more accurate Ministry of Economic Development).
Econet boss Tex Edwards' release slammed spectrum management as a "self-regulatory failure" and said it was time the job was shifted from the ministry to the Telecommunications Commissioner.
Acronym reworking was the theme of the week for Econet. In another release two days later, it berated the work of the Telecommunications Carriers Forum suggesting the group be renamed the Telecommunications Cartel Forum.
