Telecom says it will announce a "breakthrough approach" on international data roaming charges this afternoon.
The announcement will come at 1pm followed by a briefing with Telecom chief executive Simon Moutter, head of Telecom retail Chris Quin and acting head of Gen-i Jo Allison.
Moutter said last month that transtasman roaming was one example where the company could enter into a "more productive relationship" with Australian telco Telstra.
The Telecom boss said roaming was one his "next focus areas".
"I've been a customer for four years, I've had those big bills. I am looking for our company to challenge and solve that problem of how the global roaming market works for our customers so we can make the best of this great technology that does allow people to cross borders where they can use their data and not get these gigantic bills....I'm up for solving that," Moutter said in November.
