New IndraNet Technologies chief executive John King will have to hit the ground running. His appointment yesterday has coincided with the "large-scale" deployment of a new broadband communication product, FraMe Networks.
King will help to drive the commercialisation of IndraNet's range of new products, the Christchurch company says.
IndraNet, founded in 1998, has spent six years developing FraMe, a wireless network package designed to deliver "always on" broadband internet at a price "similar to that of plain old phone connections".
King will co-ordinate the release of FraMe in New Zealand and Australia.
A successful product launch would be welcome news after a net deficit after tax of nearly $3 million reported in 2003.
Share issues during the year ensured the equity at the end of the period was healthier, at nearly $650,000.
FraMe is the first of several major technology releases planned for the next two years.
IndraNet projects include supercomputing, radio transmission, co-generation of energy and non-polluting, low-cost transport.
The opportunities ahead for the FraMe products were substantial, King said.
Most recently, he was chief operating officer of Acuma, a British information management solution company.
